5th Anniversary of the assasination of Berta Cáceres
This March 2nd we’ll commemorate 5 years since the assassination of our sister Berta Cáceres, 5 years of struggle against impunity and injustice in Honduras, 5 years of challenging immense economic and political powers that try to rob us of the justice that’s in our hands. At the same time, we’ll celebrate 5 years of building bonds of solidarity between comrades in struggle, who have echoed our demand for justice, 5 years of walking alongside Berta’s spirit in the construction of emancipatory processes and autonomy for the people.
Though the Covid health crisis keeps us from meeting in person and embracing, which gives us so much strength, we know that solidarity and the struggle for justice does not stop because of the distance. We continue taking care of each other and supporting struggles in different territories, keeping Berta’s memory, legacy, courage and rebellion alive.
This 5th anniversary, as we do every year, with the ancestral strength of Berta, Lempira, Mota, Iselaca and Etempica, we will continue to raise our voices full of justice, freedom, dignity and peace.
